We Sahanoda Foundaion are involved with many community projects.

01. Elders and charity health care programs

  • Continuing the Elders Home
    After constructing Sahanoda Elders Retreat Home program elders will be provided all facilities and taken care with accommodation free of charge.
  • Commemorating the International Elders Day
    Every year more than 500 elders participate in the activities for improving their spiritual amiableness and will be supplied essential goods and instruments.
  • Spectacles, wheel chairs, crutches and artificial legs etc. are distributed among elders with exerting eye and specialist medical clinic in rural level.
  • Donating hospital beds and medical equipment sets for the government hospitals in hard living areas through Health Department.
  • Identifying the innocent patients who undergo special surgeries and directing them with necessary financial assistance.
                                       
    02. Anti Narcotic Programs
  • Implementing the World Anti Narcotic Programs combined with Educational Department in affiliation with honorable Buddhist monks and school children
  • Implementing the communal training programs co-ordination with community center level.
  • Establishing centers for rehabilitate the drug addicts in combined with Rehabilitation Commission Department where by rescue that group and socialize as extrovert citizens to the society.

03. Implementing the rural communal water supply and hygienic projects

Implementing the above project in conjunction with reversionary community and accredit to their own in Badulla, Gampaha, Puttalam, Kalutara and Matale Districts in combined with Asian Development Bank, National Water Supply and Drainage Board, Provincial councils and Local Authorities (Municipal Councils, Pradeshiya Sabhas and Urban Councils)

04. Child development programs

  • Implementing the pre childhood development programs
    Setting up pre school centers in Padawiya, Sripura, Vavunia, Tantrimale, Lunugamwehera, Tissamaharama areas
    $. Setting up and continuing the pre school and children parks.
    $. Paying pre school teachers.
    $. Supplying instrument sets to the pre school children.
    $. Training for pre school teachers.
  • Helping to the families with low income to develop their houses at those areas
  • Granting the scholarships for the students who qualified to the universities in these families.
  • Giving educational scholarships to the merit students in those areas
  • Exerting ENT and dental clinics and donate audio video (hearing and visual aid) instruments for disabled children
  • Supplying the drinking water and hygienic toilet facilities for schools in these areas.

05. Cattle Bank Program

Campaigning to improve the economic welfare with creating a cattle bank system and distributing the cattle rescued from slaughter houses among reversionary people in Tantrimale.

06. Agricultural Developing Programs

Under this program providing necessary agricultural apparatuses, constructing cultivation wells, reconstruction of small reservoirs, creating cumulative farms to agricultural people areas like Tantrimale, Padawiya, Lunugamwehera and assisting to develop the economy in that region.

07. Starting and continuing Vocational Training Courses

Mainly exerting this course to the children with low income families who breakaway from schools in early years.

08. implementing and providing necessary basic facilities to the needy people with cooked food, cloths, temporary shelters and medical camps in natural disasters like floods, droughts, earth slips.

09. Sahanoda Foster Parents Children’s Fund

Implementing the scholarship program for the children who lost one parent or both from the disastrous Tsunami Wave on December 20Children who lost both parents and one parent will be granted Rs. 2500.00 or Rs. 1000.00 respectively in each month with combination of Probationary and Childcare Protection Department
This program is activated from May in 2005 for the selected 650 children in Kalutara, Galle, Matara and Hambantota districts.

Apart from that exerting Children Get Together Festival in district levels to perform the merits and skills from these children end of each year and in these festivals each child entitled a gift pack including school items, school bags, uniforms and shoes.
