Due to the terrible tsunami disaster that occurred on December 26, 2004, more than fifty-five thousand people who lived on the coast lost their lives. With the aim of paying tribute to the people who passed away unexpectedly, at the historical Tanthirimale Rajamaha Temple, a Sanghik donation was given to over five hundred Maha Sangharatna and all those who died in the tsunami disaster and passed away in the afterlife.
